What Inspired a Series that Spotlights Everyday Faith

The Inspiration

I used to look at people doing big things, people walking in faith, and think, “well that’s just who they are. They’re designed like that. That’s not something I can do.”

But the more I looked around and the more I reflected on my own steps of faith, I realized we’re all just ordinary people doing extraordinary things through the grace of God. The most faithful people are people we know: our neighbors, our friends, our family.

I wanted a place we could all come to find stories that are relatable; honest stories about faith, struggles, and outcomes. A place where we can see ourselves reflected in the journeys of others. It’s easy to focus on the glistening mountaintop moments of the “great and mighty”, and forget that extraordinary faith is something we’re walking in every single day – through the peaks and the valleys.

That’s why these stories felt important to share. There’s power in vulnerability, in pulling back the curtain and sharing the humanity of faith that is real and evolving. To give a glimpse into the doubts that shook us and the faith that rose up anyway.

These testimonies should serve as a reminder we’re not doing it wrong and we’re not alone. They should give us the courage to keep going, keep pressing, keep stepping in faith. We may be ordinary, but we serve an extraordinary God who will honor our everyday faith and obedience. And maybe we’ll discover we were never as ordinary as we may have believed?

This series is a celebration of everyday faith and the extraordinary God who is with us every step of the way.

How It Works

On the first of every month, one new story of faith will be published on the EFEG blog. If you’ve joined the email list, you’ll be able to stay up-to-date with the latest testimonies that have been shared.

If you want to submit a story, you can do so here.
